Wix is a proprietary platform and cannot be migrated to other platforms. If you are a nonprofit you should look at Dreamhost, who offers free hosting for nonprofits.

This used to be a routinely available feature pretty much everywhere. (been building sites on a number of hosts since 95) Once you’ve paid 3 years in advance you’ve surrendered all leverage in your relationship with a host, which I’ve never found to be a wise move.

I get that the hosts want to lock people in, but do wonder how many accounts they’re losing by placing a significant price burden right at the beginning.

Anyway, thanks for the review, and your frankness is discussing some of your concerns.

What I would like to ask is , are any of the two wordpress packages any good for a multi directory website that has all pages with 10 to 20, 100 kb high- res photo images per page that link to other sites throughout the 25 /30 pages .

Many thanks Harry

Hi Max,

Great question, and here’s our answer: We sincerely mean it when we say there’s no circumstance in which we’d recommend StartUp.

We’ve tried StartUp a number of times in the past, and what you lose in speed and features never makes up for the minimal cost savings.

All this is especially true for a WooCommerce site that is designed to actually make money, and that will be asking extra of your database over time.

Hope that’s helpful!

Fred

Do you think I should still use Startup plan? I cannot predict the number of visits yet and how well the website will perform.
If it grows rapidly at some point, would it be easy to switch to a GrowBig plan? Would I have to pay a regular price then? I’m just not sure whether I should invest straight away into something that might not even work.

Thank you.

I’m desperately looking to change. I’m with Arvixe, and their customer support is non-existent. I have a WordPress site, and customer support has now become incredibly important for me.

You quite clearly don’t advocate getting the Startup package. I am running a simple branding site where I upload my qualifications and portfolio for prospective employers/clients to see. Would you still recommend going for the GrowBig package even for a simple site like mine?

Secondly, the coupon you provide doesn’t seem to offer any additional discount. It’s the same discount that Siteground already offers. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Adrian
